About Luis Seabra Xisto Indie Tinto

Luis Seabra Xisto Indie Tinto is a barrel-aged red wine made from the Rufete, Tinta Amarela and Tinta Barroca varieties by Luis Seabra in the DOC Douro (Portugal).
 
An outstanding disciple of Niepoort for a whole decade, winemaker Luis Seabra decided to set up his own project in the Douro Valley. An innovative winery that leaves behind old preconceived ideas and relies on minimal intervention, terroir identification and traditional winemaking.
 
Luis Seabra Xisto Indie Tinto is a blend of native varieties from the Cima Corgo region. These vines were planted in 1950 in blueschist soils at an altitude of 510 metres above sea level. Respectful agriculture is practiced and the harvest is carried out manually at the optimum point of ripeness.
 
In the winery, the Luis Seabra Xisto Indie Tinto grapes ferment spontaneously with native yeasts in stone vats. The wine is aged for 22 months in used French oak barrels. 
 
Luis Seabra Xisto Indie Tinto is a wine that represents the best of the Douro, one of Portugal’s most important wine regions. A red wine of great lightness and elegance.
 
2016 Luis Seabra Xisto Indie Tinto 2016 is an eloquent red wine, exuding scents of ripe, dark berries complemented by hints of supple leather. On the palate, it reveals itself as vibrant, delectable, and impeccably structured. This wine boasts mature tannins alongside a balanced acidity. The finish is invigorating and enduring.
