About Luna Beberide Mencía

Luna Beberide is a red wine from the D.O Bierzo produced by the Luna Beberide winery. Like many of the wines from this region, this is a single variety wine made with the Mencía grape.
 

The climate in El Bierzo is ideal for the cultivation of vines, with mild temperatures, temperate and with a constant humidity that is ideal for a good maturation of the grape. The climate is not too dissimilar to that of Galicia, with with prominent rainfall, but also rather dry, more similar to that the Castilian regions.
 

The grapes for Luna Beberide grow on calcareous-clay soils on slopes situated at altitudes between 600 and 750 metres, with a south facing orientation. They are located close to the towns of Villafrance del Bierzo and Cacabelos. The harvest of the fruit is usually carried out later, allowing the fruit to achieve their optimum point of maturation towards the end of September. After the harvest has been carried out, the bunches for Luna Beberide ferment in stainless steel tanks. This wine is then bottled without being aged.
 

Luna Beberide produced their first wine back in 1996. Since then, their products have been characterized for their simplicity and quality. Regarding the environment, on the other hand presents spectacular landscapes, it is another of the elements that characterize the winery.

Luna Beberide Mencía 2021 unfolds a spectrum of scents with prominent notes of cherries, blackberries, and a hint of black pepper. On the palate, it is well-balanced and dynamic, featuring a burst of red fruits that linger on the taste buds. The finish is extended and flavorful, with a delicate sweetness and smooth tannins contributing structure while maintaining the wine's inherent freshness. Its profile is richly layered yet approachable, perfect for savoring its youthful exuberance.
2015 Boasting a succulent texture, this wine exhibits exemplary tannic structure. It is both flavorful and robust in character. Deep cherry hue. Aromas of dark and forest fruits are predominantly complemented by mineral undertones.
