When it comes to wines that captivate Robert Parker and his team, there is no debate: those from the historic maison M. Chapoutier receive all the accolades. In recent decades, it is not uncommon for one of their wines to receive 100 Parker points each year from the impressive range of over fifty offerings produced by this house throughout the Rhône Valley: from Ermitage, Crozes-Ermitage, and Saint-Joseph, to Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu, or Châteauneuf-du-Pape. This is further complemented by their creations in other regions of France, as well as in Australia and Portugal. With such credentials, it is evident: a wine from Chapoutier is synonymous with quality.

Among their gems stands out M. Chapoutier Châteauneuf-du-Pape Barbe Rac, a wine that embodies the history and character of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, one of the most prestigious appellations in the Rhône. Originating from the Barbe Rac vineyard, with 90-year-old Grenache vines, its roots are anchored in a quaternary terrace covered with pebbles from the ancient Rhône riverbed. The plot combines a complex and varied geological composition, which imparts uniqueness to each cluster.

The harvest is conducted manually and meticulously, selecting only the most perfect fruits. Vinification takes place in concrete tanks, with fermentation lasting approximately 3 weeks, allowing for optimal polymerisation of the tannins at controlled temperatures between 30 and 33°C. Following fermentation, the wine undergoes 16 months of ageing in oak vats, which imparts structure, smoothness, and elegance.
