About Majas Rouge

Majas Rouge is a red wine made with the Cariñena and Garnacha varieties produced in the VDP des Côtes Catalanes by the Majas winery.

Majas is the work of Agnès and Alain Carrère, with the collaboration of prestigious South African winemaker Tom Lubbe. Located in the Fenouillèdes valley (Roussillon), they have an unusual landscape where the vineyard sits alongside meadows and forests. They work with the philosophies of minimal intervention and organic viticulture and their wines are characterised by their fruitiness, freshness and mineral character.

The Majas Rouge vineyards are planted in clay-calcareous soil 400 metres above sea level. They follow ecological practices (ECOCERT certificate) which means minimal intervention in the growth of the grape. With hot summers and cold winters, the strains are regulated by the humidity of the Mediterranean sea breeze and the Tramontana wind. The harvest is carried out manually.

In the winery, Majas Rouge undergoes spontaneous alcoholic fermentation with native yeasts at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks.

Majas Rouge is a young red wine that reveals the mineral character that the Caudiès Fenouillèdes terroir offers in an honest and simple way.
2017 Majas Rouge 2017 is a juicy, flavoursome and spicy red wine, with aromas of fresh blackberry and cherry. On the palate is reveals intense black fruit, a pleasant acidity and great minerality.
