About Malpuesto

Malpuesto is a red wine produced by the Orben winery La Rioja, at the foot of the Sierra Cantabria.

The Orben winery belongs to the Artevino Family Wineries, a group of well-known wineries in Ribera del Duero, Vetus or Toro. Malpuesto is a single varietal Tempranillo from the Malpuesto Finca, the Finca vineyard was planted in 1931 and today is one of the oldest vineyards of La Rioja Alavesa. The name, Malpuesto, comes from the irregular arrangement in which the strains were planted. The farm is located on a hillside and has an area of 1.2 hectares. The soil is sandy and poor, resulting in a low yield yet with high quality. The harvest is done manually in small boxes of 15 kg. Once in the winery, the grapes undergo a strict selection before being placed in vats. Fermentation takes place at controlled temperature and a very gentle pressing is applied before the wine undergoes aging in barrels for about 15 months. Malpuesto is a red wine with character, from a very special old vineyard with a limited production of just over 5,000 bottles.

2021

Malpuesto 2021 is a red wine that delights with its subtle sweetness and fruit-forward profile. On the nose, it unfurls a rich tapestry of ripe fruit aromas, with black fruit and wild berries taking center stage, beckoning one to take an initial sip. Upon tasting, its intricate structure and breadth are immediately evident, accompanied by a velvety texture that caresses the palate. Mineral notes interweave with the fruity and fleshy essence, culminating in a lingering finish that stays with you, enticing you to continue savoring.
2012

Soft palate. Fruity and elegant, with good acidity and polished tannins. Long finish.



Dark cherry red colour with garnet rim and dense tear.



Very elegant nose marked by the presence of black fruits such as plums and blackberries with toasted spices.
2011 This red wine is totally structured and complex. In the mouth, it is large, unctuous and fleshy. The acidity provides liveliness, freshness and a great longevity. Great load of fruit.

Intense cherry red colour. Clean and bright.

First of all, aromas of ripe red and black fruit are noticed but little by little, we find aromas of the ageing as well as soft toasted and spiced hints, which perfectly combine with the primary aromas.
2010 This red wine shows fantastic structure and is broad, unctuous and fleshy in the mouth. The acidity makes this wine lively, fresh and very long. High concentration of fruit. A gentleman's wine.

Bright picota cherry colour. High intensity.

We first notice aromas of ripe red and black fruit which, after time, are followed by aromas from the wine's ageing, smooth toasted notes and spices, which balance perfectly with the primary aromas.

2007 In the mouth, its power stands out together with its intense aromas of fruit that were also found in the nose. Meaty, tasty, fresh and silky mid palate. Ripe tannins. Some bitter and not unpleasant sensation that makes it more complex. Very long finish.

Cherry colour with violet trims. Intense and bright.

Its intensity stands out together with the powerfull notes of ripe fruit that emerge on a presented on a complex background of toasty and creamy notes and sweet spices. Some touches of minerals and underbrush.
2005 Flavor touches to include blueberries, underbrush, licorice and a wooden bottom. Substantial and noble, with evident bitterness and sweet tannins, well balanced.

Deep red color, cherry trim, middle layer.

On the nose and the lips take precedence over all the fruit. A wine with lots of power and packaging and hugely fruity.
