Mar de Frades Finca Valiñas is a white albariño wine produced in the D.O. Rias Baixas by the winery Mar de Frades.
 
The name Mar de Frades originates from the place where ancient pilgrims disembarked to continue their journey towards Santiago de Compostela. Located in the heart of the Salnés Valley in the Galician province of Pontevedra, it is a winery that enjoys a privileged location. Impressive slopes overlooking the Arosa estuary benefit directly from the sea breeze, and since 1987, they have lovingly worked with the variety par excellence of the D.O. Rias Baixas: the albariño.
 
Mar de Frades Finca Valiñas is the result of 45-year-old vineyards situated at over 125 meters above sea level. Traditional farming practices are employed, and all grapes are hand-harvested with a double manual selection of bunches to ensure the highest quality berries.
 
Upon arrival at the winery, the grapes undergo cold maceration in stainless steel tanks. Mar de Frades Finca Valiñas undergoes periodic batonnage of the finest lees for 3 months in barrels and 5 months in stainless steel. Finally, it ages for 6 months on its lees in new French oak barrels. Once bottled, it rests before being released to the market.
