About Marimar La Masía Chardonnay

A Masia, a family-run working house with agriculture and livestock, has its origins in the ninth and tenth centuries and since then has become especially popular in Catalonia. So much so that the Catalan farmhouse has become a leading building style and the epitome of rural architecture. In an idyllic countryside setting like this, Marimar Torres, the fourth generation of the Torres Family, set up her own project Marimar Estate Vineyards & Winery in California (USA). A classic Catalan Masia that honours the family’s philosophy of making wine as an extension of vineyard cultivation, which has allowed her to experiment with Spanish varieties on the shores of the Pacific and to consolidate others with a long European tradition.

Her Marimar La Masía Chardonnay wine is a tribute to this traditional Catalan building, and is a single-variety Chardonnay from the Don Miguel vineyard (named after Marimar’s father). A plot located just 15 km from the Pacific Ocean, specifically in the Russian River Valley, which is organically cultivated with vines that produce low yields. The grapes are harvested and sorted by hand and, after a minimal pressing in whole clusters, the must ferments with native yeasts in premium French oak barrels, 33% of which are new. Once malolactic fermentation has completely finished, the wine ages on its lees for 9 months.

Produced and bottled on the property, Marimar La Masía Chardonnay is a classic white wine that pays homage to a family tradition. A silky, elegant and mineral Chardonnay in the most Burgundy style.
