About Monte Real Cuvée

Monte Real Cuvée is a red wine aged in wood made by Bodegas Riojanas with Tempranillo and Graciano grape varieties in the D.O.Ca. Rioja in La Rioja (Spain).
 
Founded in 1890, Bodegas Riojanas is a century-old project that came into being in the town of Cenicero, in the heart of La Rioja and is now considered a classic of this Denomination of Origin. Today the winery has about 250 hectares of vineyards and its wines follow tradition, although adapted to the new times.
 
Monte Real Cuvée comes from four plots of the best vineyards in an area located at an altitude of 450 metres above sea level. The vines are over 40 years old on calcareous clay soils with pebbles. Once the grapes have reached their optimum ripeness, they’re harvested first thing in the morning in boxes of 15 kilos. 
 
In the winery, the Monte Real Cuvée grapes are sorted, destemmed and crushed. These macerate for 25 days in 10,000-litre stainless steel truncated cone-shaped vats with native yeasts. The wine is then aged in new barrels, 50% of which are French oak and the rest American oak.
 
Monte Real Cuvée is a red wine with all the classic characteristics of a red wine from D.O.Ca. Rioja but with a renewed style so it’s powerful and vibrant at the same time on the palate. 
 
2018

Monte Real Cuvée 2018 is a richly concentrated red wine. Olfactorily, it is robust, featuring hints of forest fruits (blackberries and blueberries), licorice, and tertiary aromas (chocolate, toffee, and delicate toast). On the palate, it is well-structured and caressing, with a subtle acidity and a sweet, refined finish. The prevailing flavors include chocolate, toffee, and delicate toasted notes.
2017

Monte Real Cuvée 2017 is a concentrated red wine with aromas of berries, spiced notes and toasted hints. On the palate it’s sweet, enveloping and elegant. A wine with a powerful entry, vibrant passage and lingering finish with chocolate, toffee and roasted hints.
