Montecastro 2022 is a red wine that captivates with its deep cherry hue. Its aroma immediately envelops you with notes of ripe fruits such as plums and blackberries, intertwined with a subtle hint of dried herbs and the welcoming whisper of creamy oak. About Montecastro

Montecastro is a barrel-aged, single-variety Tempranillo red wine made by Montecastro Bodega y Viñedos in the D.O. Ribera de Duero (Castile and León).

Montecastro was set up by friends who joined forces in 2000 to make their dream come true: making quality wines in the heart of Ribera del Duero. The winery started out with the support of French winemaker Bertrand Erhard, which then peaked the interest of Peter Sisseck himself. So since 2012, the prestigious expert’s wine group, Hacienda Monasterio, has taken responsibility for the technical management of new productions. This includes a range of fresh and very elegant wines that are well-known around the world.

Montecastro comes from an exceptional vineyard with predominantly calcareous soils, located in one of the highest areas of Ribera del Duero, lying at 860-930 metres above sea level. The vines are cultivated using environmentally friendly agriculture, with no pesticides, and the stain yield is limited. This results in a concentrated grape with very good acidity.

Montecastro is made through spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts and a maceration of about 15 days in thermoregulated concrete tanks. It is then aged in French, American and Eastern European oak barrels for 17 months.

In collaboration with the team of the prestigious Peter Sisseck, Montecastro is only made in exceptional vintages. A Ribera de Duero red wine that has the support of prestigious figures like Julio Iglesias and Pedro J. Ramirez, and is also great value for money. Without doubt a wine that is full of good luck.

Montecastro 2021 unveils itself as a succulent and approachable offering. 2020

Montecastro 2020 beguiles us with its amalgamation of succulent fruits such as cherries and blackberries, interwoven with hints of dried herbs and a subtle undercurrent of creamy oak that enhances its complexity. Upon tasting, it asserts itself with vigor, unfurling spices that animate its ripe tannins and robust structure. This red wine, while not overly heavy, delivers a significant presence and a lingering finish, beckoning one to continue savoring its concentrated fruit expression.
2019

Montecastro 2019 is a robust and traditional red. Exhibiting a radiant ruby-violet hue, the encounter with this wine commences with an exceptionally expressive and potent nose, where red fruit and oak emerge against a mineral backdrop. On the palate, it is vibrant and fruit-forward, with silky tannins. There is a harmonious balance between the fruit and acidity. The finish is refreshing and enduring.
2016 Montecastro 2016 is a mature red wine with a complex nose of red fruit, notes of undergrowth and delicious hints of minerality and wood. On the palate it is meaty, voluminous and very fruity. It reveals fine tannins as well as an integrated acidity that provides freshness. The finish is lively, noble and persistent.
2014 Once again, Montecastro 2014 shows all the potential of this wine. Distinguished aromas of ripe red fruit on the nose, with toasted and spicy notes that add complexity. In the mouth, it is round and elegant.
2009 Fresh on the palate with toasted notes, cocoa and vanilla. Enwrapping, powerful and elegant.

A deep cherry colour, medium-high robe. Slow falling, glyceric tears show on the glass.

Interesting and very intense aromas. Red and black fruit, toasted notes, floral and vegetal notes.
