Montes is today one of the world's 50 most admired brands, according to the prestigious consultancy of wine experts, Drinks International, not only for the quality of its wines but for having established a distinct approach to winemaking in Chile. Its winery, camouflaged with the slope of the Coastal Range, dispenses with pumps in favour of gravity, seeks harmony with natural elements, and protects its oak barrels with silent solemnity as ancient chants flow among them. The chardonnay from the Montes Alpha line— the range of wines with which it all began— is crafted with grapes from Aconcagua Costa, where the sea breeze caresses the vineyards and allows for slow and precise ripening. This white wine combines fruity intensity with structure and volume on the palate and great typicity of a cold climate, yet with an impressive aromatic spectrum. Part of the wine ferments in new barrels and rests there for 12 months, imparting elegant notes and depth. Its meticulous and sensitive vinification employs three different pressing and maceration techniques to extract the best from each grape.
