About Montespina Sauvignon

Montespina Sauvignon is a white wine from the Rueda made by Bodegas Avelino Vegas. It is a varietal Sauvignon Blanc.

The Sauvignon Blanc has adapted perfectly to the estates of the winery. The hardness of the continental climate and poor soil give Montespina Sauvignon great complexity and balance.

The grapes come from 45 hectares of vineyards owned by the winery in La Seca, Villaverde de Medina and Rueda.

After a very securely controlled ripening, the harvest is done. To prepare Montespina Sauvignon, the latest technologies are used.

The characteristics of the soil and climate make this Sauvignon Blanc totally unlike any other. Bodegas Avelino Vegas was established as a result of the marriage of Avelino Vegas and his wife Isabel in the middle of last century.

Today the second and third generation manage the business, which currently produces wines in five different denominations of origin.

2023

Montespina Sauvignon 2023 is unveiled as a youthful and effervescent white wine. Olfactorily, it unfurls a spectrum of scents with a prominence of tropical fruit notes, such as pineapple and passion fruit, augmented by floral hints of chamomile and linden. On the palate, it is perceived as expansive and fruity, with a lively acidity that renders it exceptionally refreshing. Its body and prolonged finish entice one to partake of another sip, defining it as an elegant and quaffable wine, perfect for those in pursuit of zest and delicacy.
2014 Large and bulky. Very fresh and fruity, very good finish.

Bright straw yellow with some green touches.

Notes of tropical fruits on a floral background. Lush aromas.
2013 In the mouth, it shows an agile and unctuous mid-palate marked by a refreshing well-defined acidity, with fruity sensations during all its mid-palate. Medium-length finish with slight bitter final notes which provide seriousness and certain complexity. Pleasant herbaceous hints at retro-olfaction.

Very light golden yellow colour with greenish reflections. Clean and very bright.

This new vintage keeps the balance between the fruit, tropical fruit notes, certain citric nuances, fruit with pit and floral and herbaceous notes. Fragrant and pleasant.
2012 Agile and unctuous on the palate, with a refreshing and well-defined acidity, and fruity sensations from start to finish. Medium-length finish, with slightly bitter notes at the end bringing a seriousness and a certain complexity. Nice herbal notes at retro-olfaction.

Very pale golden yellow colour with greenish reflections. Clean and  very bright.

This new vintage maintains the good balance between fruit, tropical fruit, citrus touches, stone fruit and floral and herbal notes. Fragrant and enjoyable.
2011 Thanks to its abundant notes of grass and its good acidity, we can describe this wine as very fresh and light. It has an unctuous, embracing and bulky mid palate. Its long finish leaves very pleasant sensations.  An elegant and serious white wine.

Good aromatic intensity. Several grassy notes wrap the expressive notes of fruit. A nice touch of stone fruit and some shy hints of tropical fruit are slowly and subtly released. A very pleasant nose.
2010 Wide attack and creamy and fruity mid palate. Very fresh, intense and voluminous wine. Long and very nice finish.

Straw yellow with slight green reflections. Very bright and clean.

2009 In mouth is very wide, especially large, with a palate pleasing and very fresh and fruity finish that invites another drink.
