About Muga Aro
Aro is an excellent wine from Rioja produced by the winery Bodegas Muga. It is a modern, powerful and full-bodied wine which counts on this winery's wisdom and great tradition in the production of these classic Rioja wines.
It is the top wine of Bodegas Muga, and since it came out on the market, it has become one of the greatest modern wines from Rioja. For the production of this wine, the varieties used are Tempranillo and Graciano grapes from 60-year-old vines.
The grapes are destemmed and macerated in cold. The fermentation is conducted spontaneously and in a natural way in wooden deposits, without a control of the temperature and with indigenous yeasts, being prolonged for 2-3 weeks.
Aro is aged for 18 months in new French oak barrels from the winery's own barrel-making. Subsequently, it is kept in wooden deposits for 6 more months.
After the ageing, it is slightly clarified with fresh egg whites before being bottled.

2019 |
Muga Aro 2019 is an exceptionally intense red on the nose, presenting a bouquet of blackberries, redcurrants, and strawberries, complemented by floral undertones alongside seamlessly integrated oak with hints of spices (cinnamon, black pepper, clove) and a subtle vanilla backdrop. On the palate, it boasts a robust presence, with steadfast tannins that foreshadow a graceful ageing process. The balanced acidity leads to an extended, sophisticated finish. A well-structured Riojan red, it possesses significant cellaring potential.

2009 | In the mouth, it is a powerful, complex and large wide. Very tasty, with plenty of ripe fruit and very powerful tannins. Long finish.
An excellent wine with a lot of character. It shows a beautiful cherry red colour with maroon edge. In the nose, it shows spiced and toasted aromas from the barrels with subtle floral notes. Intense and clean aroma. |
