At Mullineux, the magic of the iron-rich terroir of the Kasteelsig vineyard merges with the expertise of winemakers Chris and Andrea Mullineux, who, after years of experience in France and California, chose to establish themselves in South Africa to craft wines with an unmistakable identity. Since its inception in 2007, the winery has become synonymous with quality and has risen to the top, earning international awards and being named Winery of the Year on multiple occasions.
 
Mullineux embodies a passion for precision viticulture and a profound connection to the land. In its brief yet brilliant history, it has succeeded in placing Swartland (South Africa) on the map of the world's great wine producers. With an organic approach and a deep admiration for winemaking traditions, the winery creates wines that not only aim to highlight the characteristics of each terroir but also demonstrate a profound respect and understanding of viticulture.
 
Mullineux Iron Syrah is derived from grapes grown in iron-rich clay soils, resulting in a wine with rounded tannins and unparalleled complexity. The winemaking process, which includes whole cluster pressing and fermentation with indigenous yeasts, seeks to accentuate the purity of the terroir. The wine is aged for 12 months in 500-litre French oak barrels (50% new) followed by another 10 months in 2000-litre foudres and finally refined for about 8 months in the bottle before release.
 
The result is a robust yet elegant wine, inviting discovery at a leisurely pace, revealing its complexity with each sip. Perfect for pairing with charcuterie, grilled meats, or a fine aged cheese, this wine is also ideal for enjoying on its own, during a quiet dinner or on a special occasion.
