Blanco de Bernabeleva is a white wine from Vinos de Madrid and produced by the Bernabeleva winery. This winery is a blend of 2 different varieties: Albillo and Macabeo.
The vineyard is situated in an area that is characterised by extreme temperatures, with winters that see temperatures plummet below zero, and summers that are extremely hot and dry. Taken from vines that are between 25-80 years old, the grapes used for Blanco de Bernabeleva are harvested manually.
Maceration takes place at the winery, with the process occurring separately depending on the grape variety and the plot from where they were taken from. Fermentation takes place in 500 and 600litre capacity barrels. The wine is then aged in French and Austrian oak barrels for 9 -12 months. This wine is bottled without being filtered or stabilised, so it is possible to that one will find impurities.
The wines produced by Bernabeleva express a wide range of nuances and characters, since the different grape varieties, diversity in climates and differing types of soils have a clear impact on the final product. Founded in 1923, the winery produces both red and white wines. They are known for their work with Grenache grapes, but also Albillo, the most prominent variety of the region.
