About Nelín

Nelín is a white wine produced by the winery Clos Mogador in the D.O Priorat.

Clos Mogador is the winery of René Barbier, one of the names with the most weight in this region. Descending from a wine family arriving in the Priorat in the 1980's, producing one of the most prestigious wines in the whole appellation. This wine is now internationally famous: Clos Mogador.

Nelín is produced from Grenache and Macabeo. The grapes originate from 4 small estates, planted in slate between 350 to 500 meters above sea level. The vines are carefully worked with the utmost respect for the environment and the grapes, using only organic treatments.

The harvest is realised by hand, in small 10kg capacity containers. The grapes are picked in the first few hours of the morning because of lower temperatures to keep the grapes from oxidising.

Once at the winery, 90% of the grape is pressed and the free run juice is separated. The rest of the grape is macerated for 12 hours before being pressed. Nelín is fermented with local yeast from the same vineyards in oak vats and oak barrels. The fermentation process is controlled at 16-18ºC lasting for 4-5 weeks.
The ageing process lasts for 18 months in large 1200 litre wooden containers and 600 litre stainless steel tanks.

Nelín is a wonderful white wine from the Priorat. This is a wine that searches for the maximum authenticity and expression of the terroir.

2018

Nelín 2018 is a very special white. With an absence of fruit, it is spicy and herbaceous, with notes of chamomile and aromatic herbs and citrus. The palate is balanced and flavoursome, with a mineral taste. Vibrant, expressive and flavoursome. Dry and salty finish with hints of bitterness
2016 Nelín 2016 is a deep, mature and mineral white wine. Another vintage that displays the excellent balance between the two varieties: the structure and the more mature notes of the Grenache with the finesse and freshness of the Macabeo, all this over a very elegant mineral base note.
2013 Fresh and round. Herbal memories combined with fruity and aged notes from the barrel. Long finish.

2009 A pleasure! Wide and bulky attack with a great unctuous mid palate, well-bodied and fresh at the same time. Its notes of fruit and flowers and the aromas provided during the ageing are released in perfect harmony. Very nice, excellent and lively acidity. Long and very persistent finish with a light bitterness and a mineral aftertaste. Elegant and complex wine to be enjoyed slowly.

Intense yellow colour with golden reflections. Very clean and bright wine with abundant glyceric tears.

Elegant and complex aromas. Its elegant floral aromas and the notes of white and stone fruit are noticed on first nosing. When it opens up, the fruit gains in intensity and some hint of citrus and herbal aromas are felt along with seductive notes provided during the ageing (nuts, pastries, butter, quince...) on a dense and attractive mineral background.
2007 The mouth is powerful, unctuous wines but with a refreshing citrus tip.
