About Nicolas Tricó

Nicolás Tricó is a single-variety Albariño white wine made by Compañía de Vinos Tricó in the D.O. Rías Baixas in Galicia, Spain.

In some parts of Galicia, Tricó is the name given to that almost unexpected child who brings joy back into the home and ends up being the most spoiled. A beautiful way of defining José Antonio López’s most personal project, which also treasures a family history full of childhood memories and where each bottle is a tribute to the environment and the family.

The first vintage of Nicolás Tricó was made in a year with exceptional viticultural and climatic conditions that allowed a specific vineyard to showcase its qualities and uniqueness.

The grapes used to make Nicolás Tricó come from that plot only, and its name, Nicolás, comes from José Antonio’s first grandson, whose date of birth coincides with the first vintage.

When the grapes reach the winery, the bunches are pressed whole in a pneumatic press and they undergo alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks for 15 days, without cold stabilisation and with their native yeasts. The resulting wine is aged for 12 months in stainless steel tanks with no working of the lees and a further 12 months in the bottle before being released.

Nicolás Tricó is made to stand the test of time and improve in the bottle over the years and is only made in exceptional years when this vineyard manages to express the maximum potential of the Albariño grape.

2018

Nicolás Tricó 2018 is an aromatic white wine with peach fragrances, notes of white flowers and mineral hints. On the palate it is light, fragrant and refreshing. A wine with refreshing acidity, a deep mid-palate and a persistent finish.
2015 Nicolás Tricó 2015 is a white wine that presents a complex bouquet on the nose, revealing reminiscences of ripe stone fruits, mineral undertones, and floral nuances. On the palate, it is flavorful, full-bodied, and boasts an outstanding acidity. An Albariño of profound and unparalleled character.
2012

The entry is fresh and pleasant. There is good acidity, taste and rich flavours. The aftertaste is fruit with balsamic.

Final medium persistence.



Pale yellow with green hues.



The nose shows ripe fruits, memories of grapefruit, mineral notes, fresh grass and some dairy notes.
2010 Very rich, tasty, powerful and heavy on the palate with a bitter touch and a warming sensation. Good acidity. Fruity, balsamic and herbal notes felt at retro-olfaction, medium persistence.

Straw-yellow colour with greenish reflections.

Medium-intensity aromas of ripe white fruit, mountain herbs, floral, balsamic and mineral notes.
