Chocolate N4 is a vibrant white wine that captivates at first sight with its splendid intense yellow hue and greenish glints. On the nose, it surprises with its delicate floral notes and its charming aroma of ripe stone fruits like apricot and plum. This wine is a display of elegance on the palate, showcasing a broad and slightly oily texture that is wonderfully counterbalanced by its well-balanced acidity. Each glass offers a lingering finish that leaves a lasting impression. It is an excellent choice for those seeking a white wine that combines complexity and freshness, designed to be enjoyed at its peak or to be aged and savoured over time.

About Chocolate

At times, a name can be deceiving... and Chocolate is a prime example. At first glance, it suggests a dark red or a sweet wine, yet in truth, it is an astonishing white that encapsulates the full richness of Rioja Alavesa, a region more renowned for its reds than its whites.

This wine is the latest addition to the Artevino project (Izadi, Villacreces, and Vetus) and is born from Bodegas Orben's passion for indigenous white varieties. Its evocative and unique name hints at the creamy texture and depth of flavours it offers.

It is crafted from 79 micro-plots of old vines, planted between 1945 and 1954 around Laguardia, where the blend of Atlantic and Mediterranean climates and clay-limestone soils allows for very low yields (4,000 kg/ha) and exceptional quality.

Chocolate is an unusual CVC (blend of three different harvests) combining the indigenous white varieties viura, malvasía, garnacha blanca, and maturana blanca, fermented and aged in concrete eggs and 500 and 225-litre barrels. The result is a white wine with an enveloping texture and surprising nuances, demonstrating that in Rioja, white varieties can achieve an exceptional character.

Chocolate beckons discovery, reminding us that in Rioja Alavesa, even an unexpected name can conceal a unique treasure and that its whites deserve as much acclaim as its celebrated reds.
