About Pere Punyetes Negre

Pere Punyetes Negre is a red wine from the Penedès produced by Varias Cavas, a winery that has nearly 100 years of experience in the wine world. In 1918, the winery was founded by the Miró family in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia (Alt Penedès).

The climate in this area is pre-coastal, temperatures are around 15-18 ° C, with highs of 34 ° C in summer and minimum temperatures of near zero in winter. Frosts are more frequent and the contrast between the maximum and minimum temperatures is greater.
This wine is made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (50%), Merlot (30%) and Tempranillo (20%) from vineyards planted in the town of Sant Sadurní d'Anoia.
Regarding the development, after stripping and pressing the grapes, the wine undergoes a maceration of 20-25 days. After this maceration is carried out, alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled low temperature of 16-18 ° C. Subsequently, the process is finished by malolactic fermentation.
