About Perelada Finca Garbet

Finca Garbet is an excellent red wine made with the Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon varieties produced by the Perelada winery in the D.O. Empordà.

The Castillo de Perelada is an impressive monument from the Middle Ages, when winemaking dating back to the fourteenth century was already documented, when Carmelite monks built the monastery's cellars to make wine for the Perelada region. The castle was acquired by Miguel Mateu in 1923, and he decided to bring the winemaking tradition back to life, taking full advantage of Empordà’s favorable winemaking environment.

The Finca Garbet wine comes from an extraordinary vineyard that practically sits on the shores of the Mediterranean. The vines grow on terraces with slate soils and resist the strong Tramontana winds but benefit from the influence of the sun and the sea breeze. This wine macerates for 25 days at a controlled temperature with two pumps overs every day. The wine is aged for 25 months in new French Bordeaux oak barrels and then bottled and rested before going to market.

Notes of aromatic herbs, ripe fruits, balsamic and mineral elements intertwine harmoniously, transporting us to the coastal estate of Perelada. On the palate, its balance is sublime: fresh, rounded, and intensely flavoured, with smooth and silky tannins that make it immensely pleasurable. Its long finish and ageing potential promise a unique experience with each glass. A wine that, like the landscape that inspires it, is full of soul and personality.

Finca Garbet 2016 is a red wine that reveals a broad aromatic spectrum reminiscent of its Mediterranean origin, featuring scents of herbs such as fennel and rosemary, along with nuances of olive, ripe fruits, and a hint of spices and minerals. On the palate, it presents with great intensity and a silky texture, combining its fruity character with a distinctive freshness from the L'Empordà region. Balanced and elegant, it offers a long finish and demonstrates significant ageing potential.
 
2014 Finca Garbet is a red wine with a range of Mediterranean aromas reminiscent of fennel, olive and rosemary as well as an explosion of fruit with mineral and spicy nuances. The palate is intense and silky, with a ripe fruit mid-palate that is balanced with the characteristic Empordà freshness. Sweet and elegant. It has a long aftertaste and great aging potential.
2013 Perelada Finca Garbet 2013 is a powerful and structured mature red wine. A very good vintage of this monumental Syrah, which reveals itself as intense on the nose, with aromas of ripe black fruit, and with spicy and elegant toasted notes. On the palate it is majestic, full, balsamic and very lingering.
2006 A fresh wine with lots of fruit. Flowers, cocoa, spices. Polished tannins from its time in the barrel.

Maroon colour with a violet rim. High robe. Dense tears on the glass.

Balsamic aromas, forest fruits, liquorice and leathers.
2004 In the mouth, this wine is powerful and fine at the same time, tasty, large, and has a great load of fruit. Great balance and great body. The tannins, although they are present, are really well-integrated, as well as its acidity. It is a rising red wine which fills the palate with plenty of flavours. It has a very long finish.

Dark cherry red colour with maroon edge.

Fruity notes are mixed with subtle floral aromas, reminiscences of spices and a balsamic finish accompanied by slight ageing notes.
