About René Barbier Abocado Semiseco

René Barbier Abocado Semiseco is a red wine made with the Monastrell, Tempranillo and Garnacha Tinta varieties in the D.O. Penedès by the René Barbier winery.

The Barbier family settled in Catalonia in 1880, fleeing the French phylloxera outbreak. Léon Barbier was the first to sell bottled wines and his son René was the first to make them an international product. Using their knowledge in the vineyards and in the winery, they have succeeding in producing wine using French traditions on Catalan land.

The René Barbier Abocado Semiseco vineyards are planted in the heart of Penedès. A Denomination that sits between coastal hills and the Mediterranean coast and that basks in a warm and temperate climate. Geographical qualities that encourage good growth of the vine and its berries. The harvest is carried out at the optimum moment of ripeness.

In the winery, the grapes selected for René Barbier Abocado Semiseco undergo alcoholic fermentation at a controlled temperature and, when the desired sugar content is achieved (between 5 to 15 gr / l), the process is stopped to prevent all sugars from turning into alcohol.

René Barbier Abocado Semiseco is a semi-dry red wine that is easy to drink and has a little sweetness.
2017 René Barbier Abocado Semiseco 2017 is a sweet red wine with aromas of red fruits and spices. On the palate it is pleasant and the retronasal brings back the aromas of red fruits and liquorice.
