About Juan Gil Rosario Vera

Rosario Vera is a red wine made by the Rosario Vega Winery in the D.O.Ca. Rioja.

Rosario Vera is the new winery in La Rioja from Grupo Juan Gil Bodegas Familiares. With several plots in Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa, acquired in 2016, Grupo Juan Gil is launching a project in la Rioja that has been in progress for several years, and that began by producing its first vintage in this same year.

Rosario Vera is a wine made with Tempranillo grapes from vineyards that are between 15 and 60 years old, located in the municipality of Laguardia, planted on limestone soils that are rich in clay.

Once the grapes are harvested, each plot is fermented separately in stainless steel tanks for 15 days, with temperature control (a maximum of 27°C). Once the coupage is obtained with the best plots, the malolactic fermentation takes place in French oak barrels, where the wine remains for 10 months.

Juan Gil Rosario Vera 2020 is a deep, complex, and elegant red wine. On the nose, it reveals aromas of ripe cherries and raspberries, accompanied by subtle toasted notes from the ageing process. Upon tasting, it feels juicy from the first sip, with a smooth and fluid passage through the palate. Its finish is long and pleasant, leaving a lasting impression.

Juan Gil Rosario Vera 2019 exhibits a deep purple hue that beckons exploration. On the nose, this red wine unfurls a spectrum of aromas featuring blackberries, cassis, red currants, plums, along with hints of black liquorice and tobacco, offering a complex and enticing aromatic entry. On the palate, it presents itself as well-balanced with a silky texture, culminating in a long finish that highlights flavours of black liquorice, cherry, plum jam, alongside toasted nuances and notes of oak and cedar.                   
2018 Juan Gil Rosario Vera 2018 is an eloquent red wine, suffused with scents of red and black fruit, herbaceous undertones, and hints of cocoa. On the palate, it is flavorsome, delightful, and persistent. It reveals well-ripened tannins and an extensive finish, evocative of the forest floor.
2017 Rosario Vera is a deep, complex and elegant wine. This vintage stands out for its balance between maturity and freshness. Aromas of ripe red fruit with toasted sparkles of aging. On the palate it is initially juicy, with a good mouthfeel and a lingering and pleasant finish.
