Natalie Chiu is Japanese and her husband Charlie Winkworth-Smith is English. They met at the University of Nottingham, where they pursued a PhD in Flavour Chemistry; but aside from that, what else might they share in common? The answer is quite simple: their passion for tea. While Natalie enjoys this beverage during lunch, Charlie partakes in it in the afternoon, with characteristic British punctuality, right after lunch. This, combined with Natalie's intolerance - she becomes ill whenever she consumes alcohol - led the couple to devise new alternatives. Thus, Saicho was born, a project focused on crafting non-alcoholic sparkling beverages with tea as its foundation in various expressions. In the realm of black tea, Saicho Darjeeling Sparkling Tea stands out. 
 
This couple has travelled to the city of Darjeeling, in the Himalayas, to cultivate the tea leaves for Saicho Darjeeling Sparkling Tea.
