About Bodegas y Viñedos San Román Malvasía

Bodegas y Viñedos San Román Malvasía is a barrel-aged white wine crafted by Bodegas y Viñedos San Román using the Malvasía grape variety in the D.O. Toro region (Castilla y León).

Mariano García of Bodegas y Viñedos San Román embarked on this venture in 1995 within the D.O. Toro, specifically in the locales of Pedrosa del Rey, Villaester, and San Román de Hornija. This initiative primarily focuses on the Tinta de Toro variety, while also incorporating other varieties such as Garnacha and Malvasía.

Bodegas y Viñedos San Román Malvasía originates from vineyards over 60 years old, planted on sandy soils and situated at an altitude of 700 metres above sea level. Although not officially certified, these vines are cultivated organically and ecologically, without the use of herbicides or pesticides.

Once in the winery, Bodegas y Viñedos San Román Malvasía undergoes selection and destemming. It is then left to macerate with its skins for 12 hours, and after being clarified by decantation, it is transferred to 500-litre barrels for fermentation. Finally, it is aged for 10 months with periodic lees stirring.

Bodegas y Viñedos San Román Malvasía represents the first white wine produced by this winery in Toro using old vineyards of Malvasía Castellana, also known as Doña Blanca. A wine that is well-rounded, enveloping, and aromatic.
