About Semele Crianza

Semele is a red wine from Ribera del Duero prepared by Montebaco, a winery that was founded in the mid-80s by Manuel Esteban and his family. It was not until 1994 that the first wine cellar was developed.

The climate of this area is extremely continental, characterized by dry summers, hard and long winters and low rainfall. A large temperature variation between stations is recorded and also between day and night. This wine is a blend of Tempranillo and Merlot from the Monte Alto farm, a vineyard of 50 hectares of vines 20 years old. The vineyard was planted on clay-limestone soil, about 850-900 meters above sea level, between the towns of Valbuena and Pesquera de Duero. Semele remains in the barrel for 12 months to mature.

On the palate, it is delightfully smooth and light, with a vivacity that beckons one to partake of another sip. The tannins are refined, ensuring a sophisticated finish and a lingering taste that accentuates its fruitiness and subtle roasted nuances.
2015 Semele Crianza 2015. In this exceptional vintage, it is a concentrated red wine. Very mature and a marked toasted character given by the barrel, but with quite a light mid-palate. A wine for lovers of powerful aromas.
2012

On the palate, it is soft, fresh and full of volume. Fruity notes appear. Good acidity and sweet polished tannins. Long finish.



Intense cherry red, clear and bright.



The nose is clean and intense. There are aromas of red fruit with notes of sweet spices, roasted flavours and balsamic aromas. Intense memories of peppers and liquorice.
2010 In the palate, after a soft but quite bulky attack, this wine shows a fresh mid palate and leaves fruity sensations. It has a good acidity and marked, slightly sweet and drying tannins. Medium finish with a marked persistence. Very good value for money.

Dark cherry colour with ruby red edges. Clean and bright, with abundant thin tears.

Intense, clean and expressive nasal aromas. Its notes of red fruit stand out mixed with some notes of sweet spices, toasted aromas and a balsamic background. Intense notes reminiscent of red peppers and liquorice.
2009 Nice and fresh wine, with a good presence of red fruit, less intense than in the nose. Subtly sweet and ripe tannins. Silky and warm mid palate. Balsamic and spicy scents are noticed in the finish together with a certain acidity. Medium and persistent finish.
