About Serras del Priorat Blanc

More than 30 years ago, a group of young visionaries came to Priorat (Catalonia) to rescue it from oblivion and make great wines. Alvaro Palacios, René Barbier, Josep Lluís Pérez and Daphne Glorian revolutionised Priorat with their work and put the spotlight on the “llicorella”, the famous slate that covers the Priorat terraces. It is thanks to the recommendation of René Barbier himself that Charlotte and Christopher Cannan bought 10 hectares of excellent vineyards in 1997. They bought this land in the municipality of Gratallops, with the aim of starting their own project with the name Clos Figueras and create the purest essence of this Catalan wine region. It was then that Christopher Cannan decided to start presenting several wines to journalists in an attempt to put Priorat on the map, thus becoming the first to market wine from this region on an international scale.

Among the famous collection of wines, Serras del Priorat Blanc is a blend of Grenache Blanc grapes from vines between 5 and 10 years old. Vineyards with different orientations and lying at an average altitude of 400 metres, but all of them with a common terroir: extremely poor slate soil. The grapes are organically cultivated and harvested by hand in 15 kg boxes. In the winery, after selection on a sorting table, the grapes are gently pressed in a vertical press and then the resulting must is fermented in temperature-controlled 1000 litre stainless steel tanks. Finally, the wine remains on the lees in stainless steel tanks for 6 months.

Breaking with stereotypes, Serras del Priorat Blanc shows us that not all Priorat wines go through barrels, nor are they all powerful. This is a lively, fruity white wine full of personality that reflects all that the exceptional terroir that the DOQ Priorat has to offer.

Serras del Priorat Blanc 2021 is a defined white wine with prominent aromas of ripe white fruits, notes of wild flowers and hints of dried herbs. On the palate it is vibrant, young and balanced. A wine with a refreshing entrance, a fruity mid-palate and a round finish.
