About Sot Lefriec

Sot Lefriec is a red wine produced by Celler Alemany i Corrio in Vilafranca del Penedés (Barcelona), D.O. Penedés.

 

Celler Alemany i Corrio is the personal project of Irene Alemany and Laurent Corrio, life and business partners that met in Burgundy while they studied oenology.

Celler Alemany i Corrio was born in 1999 and it was the first "garage winery" in Penedés. We can find their vineyards in Lavern (Penedés), located on a slight slope, with several varieties of grapes that are between 25 and 60 years old.

In the production of their wines they try to keep the process as natural as possible, seeking to reflect the expression of the varieties and the character of the terroir to the maximum extent.

 

Sot Lefriec is made from the best Merlot, Carignan and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from their oldest vineyards.

They are manually harvested and placed in small boxes. The grapes are selected in the vineyards. Once they arrive at the winery, the grapes are destemmed and they go through maceration for more than a month. They ferment in stainless steel deposits. Once the alcoholic fermentation has ended, they go through the malolactic fermentation in new and single-use oak barrels. Here, they are left to rest for 22 months.

 

Sot Lefriec is a mature, robust and intense wine. It stands out for its intensity, with aromas of ripe black fruit and elegant notes of leather. Balanced thanks to the freshness of the Carignan. One of the gems of Penedés that shows us the good adaptation of the international grapes to this region.

2004 Flavor is rich, powerful and intense, ripe tannins and persistent.

Dark cherry color with purple rim.

Aroma powerful, complex, and roasted sweet spices, creamy oak, ripe fruit and earthy. The smell of oak aging, background blends and harmonizes the whole.
