Alejandro Bulgheroni already owned wineries in Argentina, Uruguay and California, but his passion doesn’t end there and he decided to look for new places in Bolgheri, right in Tuscany (in the middle of Italy). The businessman and his wife came here in search of the best olive oil; however, his path led him to a hill in Bolgheri, near the Tyrrhenian Sea, where the vineyards grow under the protection of the sea, the wind and the sun: a marvel.
Taking this into account, the winery’s name makes perfect sense. Tenuta Meraviglia is a young company, always with an eye on natural production and sustainability. Their production is always focussed on quality and is based on just three wines. One of those is Tenuta Meraviglia Bolgheri Rosso.
Tenuta Meraviglia Bolgheri Rosso is a red wine made within the D.O.C. Bolgheri Rosso and grown on volcanic soils and vinified in new cement tanks. The mineral character of this wine is indisputable and comes from both the fermentation tanks and the stony soil of volcanic origin where it grows. These stones are key, because during vine growth they help aerate the soils, allowing nutrients and the average 600 ml annual rainfall to penetrate the roots and be stored in the deeper layers. In this way, and with the help of sea breezes, the plant will be able to withstand the sunniest and driest periods.
Following a manual harvest, Tenuta Meraviglia Bolgheri Rosso ferments spontaneously, with native yeasts, in cement vats and is aged in untoasted French oak barrels for 12 months. Now it’s time to try one of the best Italian wines!
