About Tenuta San Guido Guidalberto

Tenuta San Guido Guidalberto is a barrel-aged red wine made in the Protected Geographical Indication of Tuscany (Italy) by Tenuta San Guido with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes.
 
Tenuta San Guido is a 2,500 hectare estate located in the Italian region of La Maremma, between Tuscany and Lazio. There, the Incisa della Rocchetta family produces one of the most prestigious wines in Italy: Sassicaia. An elegant and distinctive Bordeaux-style red wine that was initially only for personal consumption, but it developed so well in the bottle they decided to share it with the world.
 
The Tenuta San Guido Guidalberto vineyards lie at an altitude of 100 to 300 metres above sea level. These are young vines planted on a gravelly soil comparable to those of the Médoc (Bordeaux) and partially clayey. They are cultivated using traditional agriculture and, due to the temperate climate influenced by the sea breeze, the grapes are harvested by hand late. 
 
In the winery, the best bunches are manually sorted on a selection table. They are then carefully destemmed and crushed. Tenuta San Guido Guidalberto ferments with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 26-28ºC and a maceration of about two weeks. Finally, the wine is aged for 15 months in French oak barrels and a small percentage in American oak.
 
A little brother to the prestigious Sassicai, Tenuta San Guido Guidalberto is a red wine that, although made from younger vines, follows the same production processes. A refined and elegant Tuscan red wine with a Bordeaux style.

Tenuta San Guido Guidalberto 2022 dazzles with its ruby red hue, clean and radiant. As you bring the glass closer, intense aromas of plum and currant unfold, accompanied by black spices and a subtle hint of tobacco. A slight presence of earthy and saline notes evokes the Mediterranean setting from which it originates. On the palate, this wine reveals itself as elegant and precise, with a silky texture and juicy tannins that offer a captivating mineral sensation. Its finish is prolonged and persistent, leaving a lasting impression. Tenuta San Guido Guidalberto 2019 is a concentrated red wine with aromas of plum, blackcurrant and fresh herbs. A delicious, sweet and enveloping wine. A medium to full-bodied wine with firm, silky tannins and a long, linear finish.

On the palate, it is dense, precise, and exquisitely elegant. It boasts a silky and vibrant mouthfeel, polished tannins, and a delightfully mineral backdrop. The finish is enduring and extensive.
