About Terras Gauda La Mar

La Mar is a white wine crafted by Bodegas Terras Gauda in the DO Rías Baixas. It is a blend of caíño blanco, albariño, and loureiro.

The caíño blanco grape is a variety with a very late ripening, a highly delicate grape prone to fungal infections, necessitating numerous interventions in the vineyard. However, it is a variety capable of fully conveying all the characteristics of the terroir.

The harvest of Terras Gauda La Mar is carried out manually, with the grapes being transported to the winery in 20 kg boxes to prevent any breakage before reaching the winery. The different varieties are vinified separately. A cold maceration is conducted, with the caíño being left for a longer period due to its high skin content, thus enhancing the extraction of aromas. Once fermentation and blending are complete, Terras Gauda La Mar is kept on its lees for at least 3 months with periodic battonages. It is then left to rest at a low temperature for 6 months before bottling, where it is refined for at least another 7 months before being released to the market.

We recommend opening the wine a while before consumption. Terras Gauda La Mar will evolve in the bottle over the next three years, gaining complexity and maturity.

2022

Terras Gauda La Mar 2022 is a fresh and full-bodied white wine with a hint of sweetness. On the nose, it reveals aromas of ripe peach, pineapple, and refreshing citrus, accompanied by subtle notes of orange blossom and mint. On the palate, it is light and moderately aromatic, with complexity arising from the blend of its three varietals. The terroir imparts a distinctive character with earthy undertones and hints of bay leaf.

Terras Gauda La Mar 2021 is a white wine with intense aromas of tropical fruits (ripe pineapple, passion fruit) on the nose, accompanied by subtle hints of melon, lychee and peach compote and a delicate mineral nuance. It has a delicious fruity flavour tinged with iodised and slightly saline notes. A fresh, creamy and captivating white wine with significant aging potential.

Terras Gauda La Mar 2018 is a white wine redolent with the fragrance of tropical fruit, earthy undertones, and mineral accents. On the palate, it is expansive, velvety, and lusciously sweet. This wine boasts a robust structure, vibrant acidity, and a delectable, fruit-laden finish.

2016 Terras Gauda La Mar 2016 is a profiled, intense and deep white wine. On the nose, this vintage stands out for the aromas of tropical white fruit, with floral notes. In the mouth, it is unctuous, with quite easy to drink and very long.
2012 The palate is a very nice. Tasty, creamy. With a fresh entry. Good acidity and structure. Spacious, with a long finish with an interesting bitterness.

Intense nose. Tropical fruits like mango and pineapple with tangerine and apple. Notes of earth, minerals and herbs.
2011 A full wine on the palate, with high unctuosity good structure and a full body. A broad and tantalising wine with a very long finish.

The first impression on the nose is reminiscent of tropical fruit such as mango and pineapple. A mineral wine with pleasant notes of soil, aromatic herbs and an engulfing creamy background.
