About Tiago Teles Gilda

Tiago Teles Gilda is a red wine with natural, organic and vegan, barrel-aged red wine made by Tiago Teles with the Merlot, Castello and Tinta Barroca varieties in the DOC Bairrada denomination, in Beiras (Portugal).
 
Tiago Teles is a winegrower who does not come from a background of winemaking. He is a wine writer who, while travelling around Portugal, got to know the country’s vineyards better than anyone. So, in 2012 he set up his own winery in Bairrada, where his family is from; a region strongly influenced by the Atlantic that gives the grape complexity and vitality. 
 
Tiago Teles Gilda comes from vines with an average age of 25 years old. These vines are planted in limestone and clayey soils and heavily influenced by the Atlantic breeze. They are cultivated using organic agriculture and no herbicides, pesticides or any other chemical. The grapes are harvested manually. 
 
The Tiago Teles Gilda wine is vinified using ancient artisan methods. Firstly, the crushed grapes macerate and ferment spontaneously with native yeasts, and then the wine ages for 11 months in wooden barrels. Finally it is bottled with no or minimal sulphites.
 
Tiago Teles Gilda showcases the exquisite potential of the local grapes from the DOC Bairrada. An authentic and balanced Atlantic red wine.

2017 Tiago Teles Gilda 2017 is a smooth red wine with attractive aromas of young red fruit. On the palate it is juicy, light and elegant. A very expressive wine with a smooth texture and good freshness. It has a dry and mineral finish.
