Tiberio Montepulciano d'Abruzzo 2022 is a red wine that stands out for its freshness and lightness, perfect for those who appreciate a fruity profile. About Tiberio Montepulciano d'Abruzzo

She has travelled across half the world, yet Cristiana Tiberio remains resolute: “one can only craft a wine that truly embodies the essence of a place if one has lived there and genuinely comprehends the climate and spirit of the location.” This conviction accompanies her as she traverses her vineyards in Cugnoli, under the imposing watch of Gran Sasso and Monte Amaro, the natural guardians of Abruzzo (Italy).

Holding a degree in chemistry and serving as a university lecturer in oenological chemistry and sommelier studies, Cristiana is fervent about acquiring knowledge. Her training took her from Champagne with Jacques Selosse to the Coulée de Serrant of Nicolas Joly, through the Mosel with Egon Müller, the vineyards of Chablis, and even to the Clare Valley in Australia. Such a journey could have led her to any corner of the world, but in 2011 she chose to conclude it at her own home. She assumed the oenological direction of the family estate initiated by her father Riccardo Tiberio and now singularly signs each wine produced there.

Her Montepulciano d'Abruzzo originates from two plots in Cugnoli, at an altitude of 350 metres, on clay-limestone soils. The montepulciano vines, some with over 63 years of history and others just over 20, form the heart of this wine. The hand harvest is followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeasts for 15 days, followed by a spontaneous malolactic fermentation and ageing in tank and bottle for 3 months.

The result is Montepulciano d'Abruzzo de Tiberio, a wine that exudes authenticity, freshness, and elegance, yet also reflects the scientific precision and sensitivity of an oenologist who learned from the best to transform all that experience into wines that today proudly narrate the story of her land.
