About Tilenus Pagos de Posada

New vintage of this red wine made 100% with Mencía grapes, from vines almost 100 years old (with very low yields) planted on hillsides which are difficult to access mechanically, at around 600-800 metres above sea level.
After the harvest, in which the grapes are picked by hand and sorted rigorously, the winemaking process begins under the supervision of the oenologist and technical director Raúl Pérez (architect of the also magnificent Ultreia, Dargo and Pricum Prieto Picudo).
Tilenus Pagos de Posada is a red wine from the D.O. Bierzo that ages for 14-16 months in French oak barrels. It is not filtered or clarified.

2005 It shows a good, serious, mineral and salty attack, with volume and a silky and tasty palate, with a good balance between the fruit and the ageing, a great acidity and firm tannins. Well structured. Long and persistent. A great Mencía wine.

Cherry red colour with a bright maroon edge and subtle violet reflections. Bright, with fine tears showing on the glass.

Clean high-intensity nose. Fruity aromas predominate together with spicy hints and nuances of undergrowth. Little by little, aromas of fine woods become increasingly more apparent. In the background, a deep and very enjoyable minerality appears. Very interesting.

2003 A serious, mineral and saline red wine with a good, bulky attack and a silky and tasty mid palate with a good balance between the aromas of fruit and those provided by the ageing. Good acidity and stout tannins. Well structured. Long and persistent finish.
