About Valori Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Bio

Distributed by Gianni Masciarelli, the prestigious company specialising in the selection, import and distribution of high-end wines, Valori wines stand out from the traditional style of the Abruzzo wine region. These are modern productions that come with a name and an avant-garde design, featuring an open umbrella. This image has great aesthetic impact and a minimalist style that is inspired by the phrase that its creator Luigi Valori always uses when he is asked to come and see the winery: “call me when it is raining” because at all other times he is completely committed to his incredibly thorough work in the vineyard.

His flagship wine, Valori Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Bio, is a single-variety wine made with the native Montepulciano d'Abruzzo grape. These are ancient vines spread across the hills of the Teramo region in Abruzzo on sandy clay soil at about 300 metres above sea level. The entire estate is certified organic and Luigi only treats his vines with copper. This means the grape has to work harder to fight disease and the result is a slightly smaller berry (more sugar concentration) and thicker skin (more tannins). Once the grapes have been harvested by hand, fermentation is carried out in stainless steel at controlled temperatures and the wine is refined only in steel so as not to degrade the richness of the fruit for 12 months before bottling.

The result is Valori Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Bio, a red wine with a casual touch that perfectly conveys its place of origin, the DOC Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. Fresh and smooth in equal measure.
