About Villa Wolf Pinot Gris

Villa Wolf Pinot Grises is a monovarietal Pinot Gris white wine from the VDP Pfalz produced by Weingut Villa Wolf.

Weingut Villa Wolf is a winery in the Pfalz area founded in 1756. It was a very prestigious winery in the eighteenth century and reached its best moment in the nineteenth century. It fell on bad times in the 1990s and is currently run by Ernst Loosen, who acquired it in 1996 and gave it a new lease of life. Ernst Loosen also owns the Dr. Loosen winery.

The vineyards for Villa Wolf Pinot Gris are cultivated respecting the environment and are harvested by hand. The bunches are selected with an optimum ripeness to produce a fresh and bright wine. Pinot Gris is a native variety of Pfalz.

Villa Wolf Pinot Gris ferments in three types of tanks: in stainless steel tanks, large neutral oak vats and cement tanks. The wine does not undergo malolactic fermentation in order to maintain acidity, and the wine is fresh and vivacious. A little residual sugar is left to give it a little sweetness and a balance with the acidity. Lastly it is filtered gently, and the coupage is carried out before bottling.
