About Viña de Martín Escolma

Viña de Martin Escolma is a white wine produced by Luis Anxo Rodríguez in Arnoia (Orense) in the D.O. Ribeiro.

 

In 1988, Luis Anxo Rodríguez created a small winery full of family tradition in "Os Pasás", Paixón, municipality of Arnoia. It has 2.7 hectares of vineyards, distributed in 29 plots. His ambition is to work with local varieties, recover the sandy siliceous soils of the sloping terrains and carry out a vinegrowing process that is low yield, manual and environmentally friendly. 

 

Viña de Martin Escolma is a wine made from Treixadura, Albariño, Torrontés and Lado, from very old vines owned by the winery, and with a yield of less than 1 kg per vine. They are planted on sandy-siliceous soils.

Harvest is performed by hand. Each variety ferments separately with local yeasts in French oak barrels of different sizes. This wine is aged for 12 months in new French oak barrels. The wine is refined in the bottle for a minimum of 3 years before it is launched on the market.
