About Viña Las Niñas Mapuche

Mapuche means "people of the land." It is a word in Mapudungun, the language of the indigenous people from southern Chile and Argentina, reflecting a worldview deeply intertwined with nature. For the Mapuche, the land is not owned: it is respected, cared for, and listened to.

It was this same connection to the land that, in 1996, captivated three French friends—Bernard Dauré, Jean Pierre Cayard, and Claude Florensa—when they arrived in the Colchagua Valley in Chile. However, it was not they who made the significant decision. It was the women in their families—mothers and daughters—who fell in love with the landscape of Apalta, its energy, and its untamed beauty. They saw more than just land: they saw a home, a future. Thus, Viña Las Niñas was born, in honour of them and their intuition.

Today, that vision flourishes across 36 hectares planted in a small horseshoe-shaped valley, surrounded by hills, where varieties such as Carménère, Syrah, Merlot, and Chardonnay express themselves with vigour and elegance.

Among its wines, Viña Las Niñas Mapuche shines with its own light. An organic blend of Carménère and Syrah, cultivated with respect for the land and vinified with dedication. Through a maceration of 7 days, fermentation with daily pump-overs, and ageing in wood and on fine lees, a wine with body and soul is achieved.

The result is Viña Las Niñas Mapuche, a balanced, expressive, and characterful Chilean red, combining the best of French tradition with the soul of the Chilean terroir. A bottle that pays homage, with every sip, to the Mapuche culture and the feminine strength that inspired its origin.
