About Viña Mayor Crianza

Viña Mayor Crianza is a red wine from Ribera del Duero, a single-variety Tempranillo, produced by the Viña Mayor winery.

The grapes they use are selected and harvested by hand to avoid squashing the grapes. They use 300 kilo boxes to transport them to the winery’s facilities and the grapes are de-stemmed carefully before starting the vinification process.

The fermentation of the de-stemmed grape is carried out in stainless steel tanks, with a controlled temperature and constant pumping over. After post-fermentation maceration, Viña Mayor Crianza finishes production with a period of ageing.

Viña Mayor Crianza ages for twelve months in oak barrels and is eventually refined for a minimum of another year in the bottle before being sold.

2021

Viña Mayor Crianza 2021 boasts an alluring ruby hue with garnet edges. On the nose, ripe red fruits such as cherries and raspberries stand out, accompanied by vanilla notes and a subtle hint of spices derived from its barrel aging. On the palate, it is a well-rounded wine, with mature tannins and a well-balanced acidity. Its finish is long and delightful, where the fruit flavours and delicate wood notes persist, offering a concentrated and pleasing profile.

Viña Mayor Crianza 2020 is a red wine that captivates with its robust bouquet of forest fruits such as blackberries and blueberries, interwoven with delicate spices and a smoky whisper from its time spent in oak. On the palate, it presents itself as luscious and dynamic, with a velvety texture and tannins that blend harmoniously. Its concentration of fruity flavors is noteworthy, and it culminates in a delightful finish reminiscent of vanilla and cocoa, a testament to its maturation. A wine that is both balanced and possesses a distinct personality.
2015 Viña Mayor Crianza 2015 is a juicy, red and fresh red wine. This vintage shows its fruity character without hiding the toasted notes of its ageing. In the mouth, it is balanced and long.
