About Vizcarra 15 Meses Tinto Fino

Izcarra is a red wine from the Ribera del Duero region produced by Bodegas Vizcarra, a winery that was founded in 1991 by Juan Carlos Vizcarra, a wine enthusiast who decided to follow in the footsteps of his father.

The climate in the Ribera del Duero region is Mediterranean yet continental. It is characterized by a low to moderate rainfall, dry summers and long, cold winters, temperatures varying considerably between seasons. This wine is a varietal Tinto Fino (100 %) from vines over 20 years old planted in glass trellises.
With regards to production, it is taken very seriously. The harvest is completed manually in boxes of 15 kg. After selection and stripping, grapes undergo a 17-day fermentation at a temperature of 28ºC. Then malolactic fermentation takes place in American oak barrels. Finally, the wine rests in barrels of American and French oak for 15 months.

Vizcarra 15 Meses Tinto Fino 2021 exhibits an alluring purplish-red hue and a medium to full-bodied structure. Bringing it to the nose, one encounters intense aromas of liquorice and forest fruits, complemented by evocative notes of undergrowth and damp earth, all harmonised with a touch of well-integrated oak. On the palate, this wine stands out for its luscious texture and prolonged finish, presenting itself as round and very well-structured. It is a wine that entices you to keep enjoying glass after glass.                      
2020

Vizcarra 15 Meses Tinto Fino 2020 unfurls an enchanting bouquet in which liquorice and blackcurrant intertwine with a mineral undertone and a dash of spices, all in seamless harmony with ripe black fruits. On the palate, it reveals a compote of black fruits laced with a spicy nuance, enveloped in a creamy texture. The mature tannins contribute structure and balance, accentuating the fruit's ripeness alongside the nuanced undertones derived from its aging. This red wine exhibits an elegant and rich concentration.
2018

Vizcarra 2018 is a ripe red wine with a fragrant nose of red and black fruit accompanied by spiced notes and toasted hints. On the palate it’s ample, voluminous and persistent. A wine with silky tannins, well-integrated acidity and a long, balsamic finish.
2015 Vizcarra 2015 is a mature red wine with body and structure. An excellent vintage that displays all the character of the variety and a great balance on the palate. Aromas of ripe red fruit, with distinguished spicy notes and toast from the aging. On the palate it is full, silky and balsamic, with a very lingering finish.
2010 Good, bulky attack. Lots of body and a dense texture, leaving fruity sensations (soaked in alcohol) on the palate. Ripe, polished tannins and a definied, very integrated, refreshing acidity. Long and persistent finish. 100% recommendable.

Picota cherry colour with maroon edges and violet reflections. Intense, clean and bright. Abundant tears lightly stain the glass.

This new vintage is more fragrant and aromatic. Very ripe black berries stand out, blackcurrents, blackberries and blueberries, along with nice spicy notes and liquorice. Fine toasted notes, earthy notes and slightly mineral hints gradually appear. Elegant.
2009 Elegant, smooth and full bodied wine. Very tasty wine, with a silky texture, that coats the mouth with fleshy notes of fruit, soft toasted aromas and milky touches. It has a good acidity and tasty well integrated tannins. Perfectly balanced wine with a very long and persistent, very nice finish that leaves a final fruity sensation.

Intense maroon cherry colour with violet reflections. Clean and bright wine with dense tears that stain the glass.

Its juicy notes of ripe fruit take centre stage. The elegant toasted notes are released along with creamy spices and hints of scrubland nicely integrated with the notes of fruit which are not hiden by these aromas. Good balsamic background.
2008 A wide and well-bodied wine with a tasty and velvety mid palate. Its expressive notes of fruit are released over the smooth toasted and creamy aromas. Good acidity and integrated tannins. Very balanced. Long and very persistent finish. An elegant wine that leaves good final feelings.

Intense cherry red colour with touches of scarlet. Medium-high robe. Very bright. Its dense tears stain the glass.

Very intense notes of fruit are noticed along with aromas provided by the noble wood on an elegant background of mineral and understory vegetal notes. When swirling the glass, it gains intensity and complexity.
2007 Structured, fleshy, balanced and powerful.
