200 Monges Gran Reserva is a red wine crafted by Vinícola Real in their quaint winery located in the town of Albelda de Iregua, within the D.O. La Rioja.
This wine is a blend of Tempranillo, Graciano, and Garnacha varieties, sourced from vineyards with an average age exceeding 45 years. The harvest is conducted entirely by hand, and the grapes are transported to the winery in small 15kg boxes to prevent any damage to the fruit.
200 Monges Gran Reserva undergoes fermentation over a period of 13 days in French "Allier" wooden conical vats, at temperatures ranging from 25 to 30°C. Following fermentation, the wine is macerated for 28 days with the skins, imparting noble tannins that ensure a deep, persistent hue throughout the wine's life. The process includes 2 or 3 pump-overs daily and regular rackings.
200 Monges Gran Reserva is aged for 30 months in French and American oak barrels located in a cellar hewn from rock, where it benefits from constant temperature and humidity throughout the year. Once the aging process is complete, the wine is bottled and will rest for a further 40 months before its release. An exquisite La Rioja wine with several years of bottle maturation ahead. We recommend decanting it at least 30-45 minutes before serving.
