About 4 Kilos

4 Kilos is a red wine from Tierra de Mallorca crafted by the winery 4 Kilos in Felanitx. 4 Kilos, colloquially meaning 4 million pesetas, was the initial investment made by Francesc Grimalt and Sergio Caballero to establish the winery. A modest investment in the sector that proves good wine is made not with vast sums of money, but with passion and a commitment to quality.

4 Kilos is produced using the island's indigenous grape variety known as callet. The grapes are sourced from various estates located in the south and north of Mallorca, grown on Call Vermell soils, a local term for the loamy-clay soils rich in iron that impart complexity to the wine. The vineyards range in age from 20 to 45 years.

4 Kilos employs a rational approach to agriculture, highly respectful of the environment, with minimal intervention. They utilise native ground cover, with a substantial microbiological population to ensure good biodiversity in the vineyard.
The region enjoys a mild Mediterranean climate, with dry, warm summers and low rainfall.

Following manual harvesting, the grapes undergo a selection process. Fermentation of each plot is conducted separately in stainless steel tanks and 2,500-litre wooden vats, at temperatures between 20 and 30°C. 4 Kilos ages the wine in 600-litre Alier oak barrels for 12 months.

This 4 Kilos is a true representation of the callet variety, unadorned, medium-bodied, with good acidity that makes it fresh and persistent on the palate.

4 Kilos 2022, when brought close to the nose, it unfolds a spectrum of aromas where wild strawberries and blackberries intertwine with hints of thyme and rosemary. At its core, it is a captivating red, boasting profound aromas reminiscent of lavender, rosemary, and violets. On the palate, it is succulent and lively, with delicate, sophisticated tannins. 2020 4 Kilos 2020 is a very elegant, fresh and perfumed red wine, with notes of rose petals, talcum powder, spices and orange peel. On the palate it is well-balanced, a little shy, but very insinuating and tasty. Precise and fine. Tasty finish.

4 Kilos 2019 is a juicy red wine with a delicious nose of fresh red and black fruit, notes of Mediterranean forest and spicy touches. On the palate it is light, pleasant and enveloping. A very fruity wine with marked acidity and a persistent finish.
2018

4 Kilos 2018 is a succulent red wine boasting profound aromas of forest fruits, intermingled with herbaceous and balsamic notes, as well as hints of spice. On the palate, it is flavorsome, vibrant, and robust. A well-structured wine featuring pronounced tannins and balanced acidity. The finish is extensive and fruit-laden.
2017 4 Kilos 2017 is a juicy red wine with intense aromas of ripe black fruit on the nose accompanied by balsamic notes, spicy touches and mineral hints. On the palate it is meaty, flavoursome and very pleasant. It has an elegant acidity, touches of liqueur, fine tannins and a long finish.
2012 This red wine boasts a robust entry, with substantial body, and unfolds a meaty and flavorful journey underscored by a substantial fruit presence, well-balanced acidity, and an intense yet highly pleasant tannic sensation. It concludes with a lengthy and persistent finish, leaving behind a fruity and smoky aftertaste.

Very nice, large and fresh attack. Soft, silky and meaty mid palate. Very tasty. Sweet and polished tannins. Long and very persistent finish which leaves tasty sensations.

Elegant, refined and balanced wine.



Intense cherry colour with violet edges. Clean and bright. Dense tears which stain the glass.

Good intensity. At the beginning, the red and black ripe fruit emerge along with good toasted notes. When it opens up, many nuances round out the wine: licorice, ink, toffee, coffee, menthol, sweet spices, notes of bakery, dry Mediterranean forest... It is definitely a pleasure.

This wine is broad, dense, with elegance and harmony, with good expression of fruit, fine tannins and nobles. Authentic Mediterranean character.



Bruised cherry color, very attractive.

Complex and deep in the nose, very mineral, with red and black fruit ripens well, nice balsamic, spicy and fine woods.
