About A Torna Dos Pasas Escolma

A Torna Dos Pasas Escolma is a red wine produced by Luis Anxo Rodríguez in Arnoia (Orense) in the D.O. Ribeiro.

 

In 1988, Luis Anxo Rodríguez created a small winery full of family tradition in "Os Pasás", Paixón, municipality of Arnoia. It has 2.7 hectares of vineyards, distributed in 29 plots. His ambition is to work with local varieties, recover the sandy siliceous soils of the sloping terrains and carry out a winegrowing process that is low yield, manual and environmentally friendly. 

 

A Torna Dos Pasas Escolma is a red wine made from Brancellao, Caíño Longo, Ferrol and Caíño Redondo, from the oldest vineyards of the winery, planted on sloping terrain on sandy-siliceous soils.

Harvest is performed by hand. Each variety ferments separately with local yeasts in stainless steel deposits. This wine is aged for 12 months in new French oak barrels. The wine is refined in the bottle for a minimum of 3 years before it is launched on the market. 

 

A Torna Dos Pasas Escolma is a complex and balanced wine. The time it spends in the bottle has polished the tannins, giving way to the refined notes of the ageing. This wine is like its creator, serious, austere and with a great character.

2016

A Torna dos Pasás Escolma 2016 is a richly concentrated red wine. The bouquet is intricate, brimming with a plethora of nuances, including an abundance of ripe red and black fruits, violets, black olives, and hints of meaty, spicy and earthy undertones. On the palate, it is well-structured, featuring refined and silky tannins. It possesses a vibrant acidity and culminates in a protracted finish.
