About Abel Mendoza Selección Personal

Abel Mendoza Selección Personal is a red wine produced in the D.O.C.a Rioja by Abel Mendoza Monje in San Vicente de la Sonsierra.

Abel Mendoza began his journey in 1988, and he currently has 18 hectares that have been organically cultivated along the banks of the Ebro. The cultivation lands are rough and with a varied composition, alternating clayey soils, marl and fine sandstones. Climate is moderately continental, marked by the Cantabrian influence.
Abel Mendoza is a wine grower that cultivates his vines with dedication and turns them into personal wines. This is the result of different interpretations of the terroir.

Abel Mendoza Selección Personal is born from an organically cultivated vineyard known as Marrate, located in the area of El Bardallo, between San Vicente de la Sonsierra and Labastida. A 70-yeard-old Tempranillo that grows on terraced vineyards with calcareous, stony soils.
Grapes are harvested by hand and then selected, grape by grape. Fermented in stainless steel deposits. Malolactic fermentation in concrete deposits. Aged for 12 months in barrels made of French oak.

Abel Mendoza Selección Personal is a wine with a mineral, juicy and succulent character. A blunt wine that captivates you from the very start and that you will enjoy until the end.
