About Adega Entrecantos Camiño

The saying already reminds you: "When you drink the three C's, don't forget: drink with calm, quality, and without changing." Being faithful always to the same wine seems difficult (there are so many things to try out there!), but we assure you that you will find it a bit challenging when you taste Adega Entrecantos Camiño, a white wine from the Ribeiro Designation of Origin (D.O.) in Spain.
 
We are (almost) sure that you will fall in love with the "caíño blanco," the native variety of this northwestern area of Spain, which usually grows between Portugal and Galicia. On this occasion, Roberto Rodríguez, who spent a lifetime behind the counter of one of the best gourmet shops in Ourense, takes up the family tradition and founds Adega Entrecantos, a winery of just 2.5 hectares in the parishes of Rairos and Torbeo (in the municipality of Ribas de Sil).
 
Specifically, the Ribeiro D.O. is the oldest designation in Galicia, located in the province of Ourense, between the confluence of the Miños, Avia, and Arnoia rivers. Totally influenced by the Atlantic, it is an area that shows a good disposition for vine cultivation, with a mixture of sandy-loam soils, schist, and sediment-rich soils—where "sábrego" (very characteristic) stands out—making them tremendously rich and nutritious. However, the truly characteristic feature of this designation is the climate, determined by its location, right at the transition between the Mediterranean and Atlantic climates. Specifically, the entire area is protected by various mountain ranges that isolate the Atlantic influence, enhancing continental conditions and achieving better grape ripening. In this scenario, the figure of the winemaker has traditionally been of great importance, and here comes Roberto Rodríguez with his Adega Entrecantos Camiño.
