About Albert Bichot Fixin Village

The wines produced in the A.O.C. Fixin, north of the Côte de Nuits, between Dijon and Gevrey-Chambertin, are known as Winter Wines. Their character and body, with a great tannic structure, need a little more aging time to achieve fullness. When it comes to Albert Bichot (one of the most renowned producers in the Côte d'Or), their wines are interesting at any time of the year.

The tradition and expertise of this house, whose origins date back to the Middle Ages, have given it this fluency and ability to handle the wines, managing to accurately understand every hectare of vineyard. Obviously, this would not be possible without the help of their winegrower suppliers, who they work closely with to extract the best from each grape variety. They also listen and learn from them in order to achieve a cultivation and care that is completely respectful of the environment, always taking into account the future inheritance for the next generations. So, following these principles, they grow the Pinot Noir to make Albert Bichot Fixin Village. This red variety is the most cultivated in the area, where soils with a mixture of lime and marl are abundant (the typical composition of the foot of the slopes). The combination of these two factors creates the perfect setting.

However, where Albert Bichot really excels is not in the vineyard (which they also do very well), but in the aging of the wines, where they are true masters and experts in the combination of vintages with barrels of different ages and origins (Tronçais, Allier, etc.). Likewise, each of Albert Bichot’s estates, located in the different wine regions, has a winery and various facilities where the different wines are vinified and aged. The ultimate goal is to vinify the grapes as quickly as possible, in the best conditions, avoiding oxidation and loss of quality.

Albert Bichot Fixin Village 2018 is a concentrated, delicate and very discreet red, noted for a very subtle and elegant nose (with undergrowth aromas). The palate is meaty and structured, achieving a perfect balance between freshness and oak notes. Long and spicy finish.
