About Albet i Noya El Fanio
El Fanio is a white wine from the D.O Penedès produced by Albet i Noya.
The winery from the Penedes, more exaxtly Can Vendrell (Tarragona), is known for being one of the first wineries to produce organic wine.
El Fanio is 100% produced from Xarel·lo. The grape originates from vines located in Turó de la Gúardia, one of the most unique places in the Serra del Ordal.
The soils are characterised by for being poor in organic matter, its permeability and for being sandy-loam.
For production of El Fanio, the must is fermented for 18 days at a controlled temperature of 14ºC in oval shaped cement deposits and in acacia wood barrels, the same place where the ageing process is carried out for 6 months.
During the fermentation, the cement containers keeps the lees permanently suspended, this avoids the need for regular bâtonnages during the ageing phase, furthermore, there is an excellent micro-oxygenation which aids to diminish the flavour of the wood.

| 2010 | This white wine from Penedes is broad, intense and tasty and has a long mid palate, with notes of fruit and minerals well ingetrated with a good acidity that provides it with freshness. It has an unctuous palate and a good finish, which leaves an aftertaste of citrus, mineral and slightly smoky notes.
A very nice and inviting wine. Pale straw yellow colour. Very bright wine. Ripe notes of white fruit are felt along with citrus and some tropical aromas interspersed with subtle smoky and highly present mineral notes. Clean and very fresh wine, with a marked varietal character. |

| 2009 | Broad, intense and light at the same time. At the beginning, a very fine carbonic is noticed that vanishes almost in a minute. Balanced acidity. It keeps the fruity, mineral aromas and a hint of honey. Tasty and sweet, with a good finish that invites to take some more. Pale straw yellow. Very bright and clean. Frank and fresh aromas, very representative of the variety. Besides the load of ripe fruit and sweet, its well integrated mineralization stands out. |
