About Albet i Noya Lignum Negre

Albet i Noya Lignum Negre is an organic red wine made by Albet i Noya with the Cabernet Sauvignon, Garnacha Tinta and Merlot varieties in the D.O. Penedès (Catalonia).
 
A family project in the Penedès region, this winery is now run by the fourth generation and has become a pioneering winery in organic vineyard cultivation. This working philosophy was started by Josep Maria Albet i Noya in 1979 and has continued with the recovery of native pre-phylloxera varieties and the meticulous study of all the plots according to their orientation, altitude and soil composition.
 
Albet i Noya Lignum Negre comes from vines with an average age of 17 years planted in clay-limestone soils at an altitude of 250-320 metres above sea level. Under the influence of the Mediterranean climate, they are cultivated following the principles of organic viticulture and limiting production in favour of berry concentration. 
 
After the Albet i Noya Lignum Negre grapes have been harvested and selected by hand, a 7-day fermentation begins with native yeasts and a maceration of 6-10 days with two pump-overs per day. The wine is aged in 225-litre French oak barrels for 11 months and finally refined in the bottle for 4 months. 
 
Albet i Noya Lignum Negre is a full-bodied but very versatile red wine. A Penedès from head to toe to enjoy at any moment. 
 
2021

Albet i Noya Lignum Negre 2021 is a cherry-red wine. On the nose, it stands out for its aromas of ripe fruits such as plums and blackberries, accompanied by subtle herbal notes and a touch of spices. On the palate, it is fruity, with a light and smooth body, making it easy to drink and enjoy.                      

2020

Albet i Noya Lignum Negre 2020 unveils itself in an alluring cherry red hue, beckoning one to explore its aromatic profile. On the nose, it unfurls a tapestry of ripe fruit scents such as plums and cherries, interwoven with herbaceous undertones and a sweet spiciness reminiscent of vanilla, all complemented by balsamic nuances. Upon tasting, its fruity essence takes center stage, delivering a silky texture that gently caresses the palate. The acidity is exquisitely balanced, resulting in a red wine that is both smooth and refreshingly vibrant.

2019

Albet i Noya Lignum Negre 2019 is a red wine that enchants with its bouquet of ripe fruits such as cherries and plums, interwoven with hints of fresh herbs and a whisper of sweet spices like vanilla and cinnamon, crowned with a balsamic aura. On the palate, it reveals itself as luscious and fruity, with a silky texture that glides effortlessly. Its acidity is impeccably balanced, bestowing a harmonious structure and a lingering finish.

2018

Albet i Noya Lignum Negre 2018 is a smooth red wine with aromas of ripe fruit, notes of sweet spices and herbal hints. The palate is fruity, meaty and balanced. It reveals well-integrated acidity and ripe tannins. The finish is long, persistent and balsamic.

2015 Albet i Noya Lignum Negre 2015 is a red wine with structure, meaty and elegant. In this vintage, the aromas of ripe red fruit stand out, with toasted and slightly balsamic notes. In the mouth, it is silky, expressive and very long.
2009 Wine with good attack and a silky and fruity mid palate. Integrated tannins and balanced acidity. Good finish which leaves a good balsamic aftertaste.

Deep cherry colour with maroon edges. Clean and bright.

Its notes of ripe fruit are released along with herbal aromas and spices such as vanilla and cocoa. Elegant balsamic background.
2008 In mouth has good structure, fleshy, fat, ripe tannins, balsamic.
