About Amanda Rosado de Lágrima

Armanda Rosado de Lágrima is a natural rosé wine from V.T Castilla-León produced by Alfredo Maestro. This is a single variety wine made from Garnache Tintorerea, a cross breed between two grapes: la petit Bouschet and Garnacha.

The majority of the grapes that make up this wine from the El Cuchillejo vineyard, which is over 60 years old and located in the municipality of Olmos de Peñafiel. The vineyard is home to calcareous clay soils and lies at 850 metres above sea level. To produce Amanda Rosado de Lágrima, the harvest uses grapes taken from the provinces of Burgos and Segovia.

The harvest is carried out manually. The grapes, after being transported to the winery, are destemmed and pressed without undergoing maceration. The juice undergoes fermentation in stainless steel tanks with native yeasts. Amanda Rosado de Lágrima clarifies naturally outside over the cold winter meaning that it does not require fining, filtration and malolactic fermentation.

Amanda Rosado de Lágrima is bottled naturally under clean conditions.  As it is a natural wine, it is possible to find impurities, but by no means does it mean this wine is in a bad state.

Alfredo Maestro is not your typical winemaker, he is a firm defender of natural wines, and against the use of conventional methods. As he states, there are only three things you need to make a good wine: good grapes, vines treated with care and healthy soils.
