Tasting notes Antinori Castello della Sala Cervaro della Sala 2024

White wine Aged in wood.

Antinori Castello della Sala Cervaro della Sala 2024 is a classically styled white wine reminiscent of the great Burgundies, and if it were a song, it would be an elegant adagietto, rich with nuances that unfold with calm and precision. On the nose, white chocolate, pink grapefruit, and lemon zest intertwine with white flowers, like a chord that opens the heart and awakens curiosity. On the palate, its body reveals weight, vitality, and tension, with a silky texture and a citrusy, slightly salty finish, evoking a dawn stroll through an Italian garden. The aftertaste, with the delicate bitterness of lemon peel, adds an extra dimension, like an unexpected twist in the melody of life, and its balance invites one to savour each moment with attention, reminding us that some masterpieces are experienced slowly, with elegance and presence.

About Antinori Castello della Sala Cervaro della Sala

Throughout history, humans have found strength in unity, and during the Middle Ages, guilds exemplified this notion. In Florence, the Arte Fiorentina dei Vinattieri, the guild of wine merchants and producers, defined an era, regulating not only production and trade but also leaving an indelible mark on the city's social and economic life.

Among its members, Giovanni di Piero Antinori stood out, the founder of what we now know as one of Italy's most prestigious wineries: Marchesi Antinori. With over 600 years of tradition, this family has not only kept the winemaking legacy alive but has elevated it to new heights.

Today, under the leadership of Marquis Piero Antinori and his daughters Albiera, Allegra, and Alessia, the winery blends tradition with innovation. From the historic estates of Tuscany and Umbria to new ventures in promising regions, the Antinori family continues to expand their vision of wine.

In the heart of Umbria, the magnificent Castello della Sala stands as a testament to this excellence. With vineyards spanning 229 hectares on clay and limestone soil, rich in fossils and situated 220 to 470 metres above sea level, this region offers ideal conditions for the creation of exceptional white wines.

Among them, the Castello della Sala Cervaro della Sala stands out, a blend of Chardonnay and Grechetto that revolutionised Italian whites by being one of the first to undergo malolactic fermentation and barrel ageing. Its inaugural vintage, in 1985, was crafted by visionary winemaker Renzo Cotarella, who sought a white wine that would withstand the test of time without losing elegance or complexity.

Today, Antinori Castello della Sala Cervaro della Sala embodies that vision: a pure, refined white wine rich in history. Undoubtedly, a living piece of tradition and innovation.
