Embarking on the journey to independence is never an easy feat. You transition from having a safety net (read: mum, dad, the family home...) to confronting the world with a blend of excitement, trepidation, and a great deal of hope. The reason? The desire to do things your own way. And this is not only true for those in their twenties moving out on their own, but also for those born among vineyards.
This was the experience of Agustí Torelló Sibill, who one day decided to step aside and leave the family cellars behind to create something of his own. He did not embark on this journey alone. His sister Lali Torelló Sibill and his son Agustí Torelló Roca joined him. Thus, AT Roca was born, a family venture brimming with soul, culminating in the construction of a modern and sustainable winery in Sant Sebastià dels Gorgs, at the very heart of Penedès.
Their philosophy? Here, they craft authentic wines that speak of their origin, unfiltered. Passionate about indigenous varieties, they practice organic viticulture and minimally interventionist oenology. When you have a territory with such character, it's best to let it express itself.
And speaking of character, let's talk about AT Roca Els Gorgs, a Corpinnat (a quality sparkling wine from Penedès) that makes you raise an eyebrow and say: “Wow, this is in a league of its own.”
AT Roca Els Gorgs is born in Ordal, from a vineyard steeped in history. Vines over 80 years old, a co-plantation of macabeo and xarel·lo, on calcareous soils that impart freshness and structure. Initially, a base wine is crafted, aged for 10 months in barrel and stainless steel tank. Then, as if time were in no hurry, it spends more than 8 and a half years in the bottle, on its lees, developing a complexity that only the greats can offer.
This is how AT Roca Els Gorgs is presented to us, a long-aged sparkling wine that captures the essence of the landscape. A modern classic that demonstrates when you unleash your desire to do things your own way, projects as personal and extraordinary as this can be born.
