About Augustus Chardonnay

Augustus Chardonnay is a white wine from the appellation of origin (D.O) Penedès produced by the winery Augustus Forum.

This cellar is found in Vendrell (Tarragona), 3km from the Mediterranean Sea. The vines are planted on the Pla del Mar, a location where there are remnants of the Via Augusta, a road that used to lead directly to Rome. In homage to the history of the location and a strong demand for tradition, the cellar chose the name Augustus Forum.

As its name suggests Augustus Chardonnay is a monovarietal wine from Chardonnay. The vineyards enjoy a microclimate special to the appellation of origin (D.O) Penèdes because of its proximity to the Mediterranean Sea. The Mediterranean breezes contribute to the good health of the grape and to some extent aiding the grapes to ripen.

For the production of Augustus Chardonnay, the must is fermented in French oak barrels from Nevers at a controlled temperature. In the same barrels the malolactic fermentation is later performed and an ageing process of 4 and a half months.

2014 On the palate, it is strong and fresh with toasted and citric sensations. A round finish.

Pale yellow and golden highlights.

Medium-high aromatic intensity. Aromas of citric and white fruit with herbal touches. Mineral notes and a creamy finish.

2010 A round, very pure and expressive Chardonnay wine. It has a wide and bulky attack and a silky, dry and fruity mid palate with marked notes of cream. It is a greedy wine, with a great structure and a refreshing acidity. Very persistent wine.

Strongly varietal wine, with notes of very ripe tropical fruit along with hints of citrus on a creamy background with lactic nuances.
